Experiencing Connection
It happened at the Billy Joel concert. 17,000 people sang Piano Man as the final number, uniting us all in song. Billy stopped playing, allowing the entire crowd to feel the connection as we all kept the beat, singing in unison acapella. “And you’ve got us feeling alright. La-la de-de da da-da.” It gives me shivers just thinking about that moment. The energy felt like I was lifting my voice in what felt like an impromptu group prayer. Since I’m insatiably curious I wondered, if we can do this and generate this phenomenal positive energy, how can we harness this more?
Maybe this connectedness has happened to you, too. In small ways. When the baby is first placed into your cradling arms. That heartfelt, moving toast to the bride and groom. A family group hug to console each other after the patriarch has died. Singing Amazing Grace with the choir. Reciting the Our Father while holding hands at church. In private prayer or sitting in meditative silence. Smelling the new life during a Spring walk in the forest. It can be any present moment, yours to observe and relish in.
My intent with Emerging Shamans is to mindfully explore ways to harness that universal positive energy to an even greater degree that may serve you and our expanding population to bring more goodness to life.
Emerging Shamans serves to promote how ancient healing traditions continue to evolve in modern times to help us better see our connections in a way that complements, not conflicts to an individual belief system.
My hope is that Emerging Shamans can help bring people together through positive connections, with themselves, with others, in community.
Who knows, we might just find a little more acceptance, tolerance and peace toward ourselves and others along the way.
In light,
Joanie
